Hand-Dyed Organic Cotton Quilt - DIAMONDS ON THE SQUARE

Regular price $350.00

Quilts make wonderful milestone gifts for those big moments that are celebrations of family, friends, or accomplishments in life. My quilts are heirloom quality and built to last a lifetime. I would suggest this quilt be used as a an artistic wall hanging, couch throw, floor quilt for a baby, toddler/crib quilt, or lap quilt for an elderly loved one. This quilt is particularly snuggly because of the llama minky cuddle fabric on the back.

ABOUT THE QUILT:
**Measures 52" x 52"
**This quilt is made from high quality organic materials and features hand-dyed colors in a unique design.
I do all of the dying myself with non-toxic procion fabric dyes on organic cotton. The cotton is bought from Organic Cotton Company and the dye is from Dharma Trading Post, both companies based here in the USA. Sustainability and environmentally friendly practices are central to all of my work. These fabrics have been traditionally dyed as well as ice dyed.
*INSIDE is batting made from 50% bamboo fibers and 50% certified organic cotton. The softest and most luxurious batting I have ever used and is densely woven so it will last for years and years and not pull apart inside the quilt. Bamboo is a quick growing, sustainable resource that is naturally antibacterial.
*BACK is Llama cuddle minky, made from polyester. It is very soft, warm, and snuggly.
*BINDING is handmade from our hand-dyed organic cotton in a double French fold style. It is machine stitched to the quilt as shown in the photos.
*Machine pieced and quilted by me with natural cotton thread.

*EASY CARE: Machine wash and dry on delicate settings or hand wash and hang to dry. Do not iron. Do not wash or dry on hot/high settings.

WHY ORGANIC?? Cotton is used for 50% of the world's fiber needs. Unless you buy organic cotton, it is grown using tons of pesticides and fertilizers. Conventional cotton grown with toxic chemicals accounts for 25% of the world's insecticide use and 10% of the pesticide use. At least 4 of the top 9 chemicals used in treating cotton are considered by the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) to be highly carcinogenic too!! Organic cotton is grown without the use of pesticides or fertilizers and is therefore better for the land, the farmers, and for your own well-being. Please research these materials if you have any further questions about their use or environmental benefits.

Made in my smoke-free in-home studio.
